Avi Lewis is one of Canada's most outspoken journalists, a
controversial and eloquent media personality, and an acclaimed
filmmaker.  Avi Lewis is host and producer of The Big Picture on
CBC Newsworld, and host and producer of Counterspin on CBC
Newsworld.

As host of City TV's landmark music journalism show The New Music,
Avi Lewis interviewed hundreds of celebrities from David Bowie and
Leonard Cohen to The Rolling Stones and the Spice Girls.  At the
same time, in the 1990s, he was MuchMusic's Political Specialist,
pioneering political "uncoverage" for a youth audience and winning
a Gemini Award for best Special Event Coverage.

Avi Lewis recently directed his first feature-length film, The Take.

The Take is an emotional story of hope and resistance in the
global economy.  In the wake of Argentina's economic collapse of
2001, groups of frustrated workers started seizing the country's
bankrupt workplaces and running them without bosses. Director Avi
Lewis and writer Naomi Klein, author of the international
bestseller No Logo, take viewers inside the lives of ordinary
visionaries as they reclaim their work, their dignity and their
democracy.

The New York Times called The Take "a stirring, idealistic
documentary" (September 22, 2004), and according to Maclean's
magazine, it is a "revealing documentary which
plays like a time-lapse portrait of history-in-the-making" (May 10, 2004).

international monetary policy is essentially a scheme to
bankrupt smaller nations and cast their populations into
poverty, while multinational corporations loot their assets and
whisk the money away to safe havens and the pockets of rich

Greetings all,

Please accept our invitation to breakfast on October 23rd. We're very excited about our visit this day with Lynell Anderson from the Child Care Advocasy Association of Canada (CCAAC) Making the Connections Project. Our breakfast will be an opportunity to chat about child care programs and services in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan. Check out the CCAAC website (Google CCAAC) for more information about this project.

I would like to express my deep appreciation to all those who have made an ongoing contributuion to the SuccessBy6 Saskatoon "model of collective brilliance". It is truly and honour to work with such an inspiring group of folk. Our regular meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 10:00 to noon at the Community Service Village. Add your voice to making Saskatoon a truly supportive and incusive place for our youngest citizens and their families!!

I am also very excited about our plans to celebrate National Child Day on November 20th. With nudges and nods from all over Saskatoon, we are making arrangements for a variety of events to celebrate children and youth on this day...please stay posted for more information.
